More about the US Prospects’ Decision-Making project

The international student recruitment landscape is ever-changing, and UK universities are continually seeking to maximise opportunities in their approach to attracting, and retaining, international students. Recent shifts in the funding and policy landscape in the US appear to herald a significant opportunity for UK universities as the latest data indicates a pivot of US prospects to the UK market.

This project provides crucial, robust, quantitative and qualitative evidence for international marketing and recruitment teams looking to maximise this potential US opportunity, enabling them to build successful campaigns based on UG and PGT decision-making insights of US prospects.

Fresh, quantitative evidence was captured through a survey with 1,000 prospects:16-24-year-olds in the US considering university (UG or Master’s) at home or abroad and fresh qualitative evidence was generated through 20 x 30-minute interviews with prospects (UG and PGT) looking at studying in the UK, exploring the themes which arose from the quantitative data in more depth.

The smart, succinct, highly visual report with practical recommendations will help you better engage with and support US prospects in their decision-making.

Report contents include:

  • What appetite is there among young people in the US for studying abroad, and in the UK specifically, at both UG and Master’s level?
  • What perceptions do prospects hold of the UK as a place to study and live?
  • How do perceptions differ across London, the rest of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland?
  • What is driving decisions to study abroad and study in the UK specifically? How can these drivers inform messaging?
  • What factors are prospects considering when choosing universities to apply to? What can universities offer to make them more attractive?
  • What information do prospects need throughout their decision-making process and how should this be communicated to them?
