The cost-of-living crisis, housing shortages, lecturer strikes, and changing engagement with teaching and learning have all contributed to a new decision-making environment within which parents in the UK are influencing their 16-18 year olds’ Higher Education choices. So, what are parents really thinking right now about university options and what are they doing as a result?
To find out, join us for this new ‘Parents as influencers of university decision making’ insight project. It will provide updated evidence, tracked against our previous findings from 2018 and 2021, to help university recruitment and marketing teams navigate this changing landscape of parental influence and take action to enhance engagement.
Why join this project?
- Inform strategies to communicate and engage with parents of prospective Home students
- Identify opportunities for new programmes or initiatives that could support parents in the UK
- Identify key information needs and challenges associated with engaging with parents in the UK
- Provide an evidence base to secure the necessary funding for new work/initiatives to engage parents of Home students
What will the project explore?
The quantitative and qualitative research materials will be shaped in conjunction with the universities who choose to participate in this research project, based around the following crucial questions:
How does is work and what are the costs?
The strategic national collaborative insight costs £3,450 + VAT to participate in and includes:
- Fresh, quantitative evidence will be captured through a survey with 1,000 parents of 16–18-year-olds from across the UK.
- Fresh qualitative evidence will be generated through an online qualitative community with 30-35 parents of the same audience, exploring the themes which arise from the quantitative data in more depth.
- A smart, succinct, highly visual report with practical recommendations to help you better engage with and support parents.
- We’ll bring together participating institutions in online events to shape the project and to discuss the findings and ideas for action
- Choose to add on a range of bespoke options to tailor the research further to your institution’s needs.
The project commences in February 2025 and will complete by July 2025, so please get in touch now to arrange to talk if you’re interested to hear more about how you can join us, and the 3 universities who are already confirmed to participate.
